Recently, I had to rebuild a series of posts from another WordPress blog that had been hosted on another server. I had exported the XML data from the old blog but the corresponding images had been lost when the database was moved. I was sure that I had all of the images saved on my backup drive but could not for the life of me find the right folder. I thought for sure that I could search my harddrive and backup drive for all of my images in one fell swoop. Shouldn’t this be easy? Well, it is….but certainly not obvious!
Here is #whatilearnedtoday:
- Go to the folder you want to search
- On the search bar to the top-right type kind:
- You should see a drop down to various kinds of search – choose the one you want and hit enter
- If you want to find all pictures, the search would be kind:=picture
- If you want to search for pictures and something else then it would be kind:=music OR kind:=pictures OR kind:=videos
